Chemistry Combustion Equation - How To Make Your Own
Chemistry Combustion Equation - How To Make Your OwnIn my third and final post in this series, I will give you a combustion chemistry equation. This equation will help you get more out of your chemistry experiments. There are many things that will affect the chemical reaction you put in, and this is why it is important to keep this in mind. So remember to keep this in mind as you experiment.First, think about how much burners you have, and how often you use them. There are two types of burners, hot and cold. Hot burners use more fuel to do the same job, but it also heats up faster than cold burners. Cold burners don't heat up as fast, but they don't last as long either. So you want to make sure you understand how many burners you have before you begin.Next, what is the composition of the mixture? Many times the composition of the mixture is important. For example, if you mix iron and oxygen to form iron sulfide, you will end up with iron sulfide. It is possible to find certain chemic al compositions in nature, such as iron oxides and iron sulfides. You may not know what they are, but you can check with a chemistry course to find out. After you have found the chemical composition, you should try it out. You should start by testing out the first mixture you created, to see how it reacts. Keep in mind that the reactions may not be even. It's possible that you have found a good chemical composition, but you did not know which ones were used to make the mixture. So make sure you know which ones you used, and what it does before you test out the other reactions. After you have found the chemical composition, and you have done some testing, you will want to combine it with the combustion equation. You will want to see if you get the same results. In other words, will the mixture react the same way that it did before, or did you get better results using one of the chemicals you found? You will want to see the answer to this question to get the best information possible.Fi nally, you will want to create a combustion equation using all the chemical components. Keep in mind that you need to use all the components you found, so you may find that the process is quite a bit more complex than this. But once you get the combustion equation right, you can use it to see how well the mixture reacts, and what results you get.Once you get the chemistry combustion equation right, you can now experiment with the different combinations you have found, and see what happens. You should keep in mind that it is not necessary to test out the chemical combinations yourself. Your instructor can help you find the right combinations, and then you can go ahead and test them out yourself.

A Parents Guide to ADHD
A Parent's Guide to ADHD While there are many reasons a child may face educational challenges, ADHD (or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is one diagnosis that may hinder a students ability to pay attention at home or in the classroom, as well as to reach their full academic potential. As a parent striving to understand ADHD, it can be very useful to recognize the signs associated with ADHD and to establish ways to promote your childs academic and personal success. If your child has recently been diagnosed with ADHD, continue reading below for a brief parents guide to ADHD. ADHD symptoms According to the CDC, the average age for an ADHD diagnosis is seven, and about 11% of school-age children have received such a diagnosis. Some of the most common signs of ADHD include: Avoiding complicated tasks that take time to complete, such as homework or projects Difficulty waiting their turn Difficulty sitting still, including fidgeting or leaving their seat Forgetfulness Having trouble following directions Interrupting others Leaving tasks like homework assignments and chores unfinished Making careless mistakes Struggling to focus on a single task Struggling to stay organized Recognizing ADHD in your child While some signs of ADHD, such as daydreaming and disruptive behavior, can be common in all children, an individual with ADHD will demonstrate multiple signs of the disorder. These signs will also occur in different settings, like the classroom or your home. If your child regularly shows several signs of ADHD across multiple settings and is having trouble succeeding in school, you may want to schedule a visit to their pediatrician. Your childs pediatrician can draw on ADHD rating scales to determine whether your student has ADHD or whether something else is at play. Your childs physician can also answer any questions that you might have. [RELATED: IEPs vs. 504 Plans: How Do They Differ?] Succeeding with ADHD ADHD is a diagnosis that children can learn to live with and can receive treatment for. Its important to remember that having ADHD does not mean your child cant thrive in school and in life. If your child is diagnosed with ADHD, their doctor may recommend that they take a medication to help them remain focused. Other common treatments include behavioral therapy, dietary modifications, and social skills training. Some good strategies to help your child include: Giving simple directions at home Being patient with your child, and identifying the situations where they may need extra help Keeping an open dialogue with your childs teachers and tutors to monitor how your child is coping with ADHD in the classroom Maintaining a regular home and school schedule for your child, which can make it easier for children with ADHD to succeed Utilizing the assistance of private ADHD tutoring, which can help your student stay on track and remain motivated to complete homework [RELATED: 3 Benefits of Tutoring for Students With Learning Differences] Talk to your childs doctor or teacher to learn more about your options, and consider reaching out to local support groups for additional suggestions. These may include decisions around lighting, composition, editing with adobe photoshop lightroom, camera mode, exposure and lens aperture.Whether youâre a complete beginner or an amateur photographer, there are many tools out there to help you as you practice your photography skills when shooting landscapes.Do you know how photojournalism has changed the world?CompositionComposition is, without doubt, the most important element to the art of photography. The most basic rule in composition is the rule of thirds. The rule of thirds acts as a guide for new photographers who are just starting out.So, whatâs it all about? The rule of thirds is about placing the most important parts of a photograph on the lines which divide the photograph into nine sections. The imaginary frame should be made up of two vertical and two horizontal lines which cut the photograph into three equal parts.Of course, this rule should only act as a guide and is by no means essential for every photograph.Once you feel more comfortable using a camera and your photographic eye develops, you may even want to move away from the rule of thirds and experiment with alternative ideas. The second question to ask yourself when thinking about composition is whether or not you need an object in the foreground.Having something in the foreground of a photograph (such as a tree, a bus stop or a bench) can help give it depth.Deciding on your depth of field is an important part of taking landscape photographs.Usually, landscape photos require that the vast majority of the photo be sharp (in the foreground and in the background), so you need more depth of field than if youâre taking a portrait.Obje cts in the foreground give perspective to landscapes ¦ source: Pixabay - jplenioHowever, a short depth of field can make for a powerful tool in terms of creativity if itâs used properly. This is because it can isolate the subject whilst keeping it clear, while the rest of the image will be blurred. The depth of field all depends on the object.Itâs useful to bear in mind that less is often more in photography.Rise Early and Retire LateIf youâre just finding your feet in the world of photography, youâll hear this advice from a lot of people.Whether itâs landscape photography or another genre, good lighting is essential for a successful photo. The best light for photographing the outdoors comes early in the morning and late on Summer nights. This is because sunrises and sunsets make for more interesting and original scenes to photograph. So, set your alarm for dawn and make the most of first light! With the internet, there is now more material than ever to take inspiration from. So, why not have a look on Pinterest or follow some new accounts on Instagram to get started?Learn to ObserveItâs important that you take your time with landscape photography.Learning how to observe the scenery and lighting is essential. By taking your time, you will learn how to better frame your photographs. But technique isnât everything. If you take online photography courses or attend other photography classes, youâll learn the basics of photography, including:Depth of fieldSharpnessWhite balanceWide angle shotsManual and auto modesShutter speedApertureWhether youâre working with a film or digital camera, the key to a successful day of shooting is patience.Attending photography courses near me, regardless of your experience, will give you the means to take your work to t he next level and develop as a photographer. Photography workshops and tutorials are designed to help you master the fundamental elements of using a camera as you learn how to shoot great photos.Enjoy yourself! The very last important piece of advice for budding photographers is to have fun!Just as with your emotions, your photographs will be less appealing if you donât put your heart into it â" so, forcing yourself to take photographs isnât worth anything if your heartâs not in it.And try to break free from the technical rules of photography sometimes. To learn about other genres of photography, read our blog about humanist photography.

Summer Planning for Rising High School Seniors
Summer Planning for Rising High School Seniors The following is a guest post written by Anna Carapellotti of Admissionado, a premier college admissions consulting company focused on helping students get into their dream schools. Its finally here. Your last summer as a high school student. Congratulations! As rising seniors, you will probably be pretty busy this summer with your jam-packed social to-do list. However, it will also be important to spend some time over the summer planning for college applications, as there are many things you will need to accomplish in the year ahead. So, what can you do to get started? Here are seven tips to help all of you rising seniors out there maximize your potential this summer: 1. Finalize your list of colleges While some of you have probably had a dream school in mind since freshman year, others may still be struggling to narrow down the list. With so many options and so many factors contributing to the admissions process, it is important to go into senior year with a solid game plan. So, take the opportunity to do some additional research over the summer. Which academic programs are best given your interests? Which schools offer the types of clubs and activities that you want to get involved in? Most counselors recommend that students apply to five to eight collegesone to two safeties, two to four good matches, and one to two reaches. 2. Visit a few schools A great way to narrow your list further is to visit some campuses. If you havent gotten a chance to already, take advantage of the time off during the summer to visit some of the schools you are applying to. Of course, academics are a huge factor when it comes to selecting a school, but things like size, location, distance from your hometown, and campus atmosphere can really affect your college experience. Though many colleges and universities are much quieter during the summer, students can still get a great sense of a schools general feel. If you cant visit some of your schools in person, many colleges and universities offer virtual tours on their websites. Another great website to check out is youvisit.com, a virtual reality platform with photos, videos, and virtual tour guides that will take you around the campuses of over 1,000 schools. Students can walk around campus, take a peek inside the freshman dorms, and even visit the library. Moreover, you can even search for schools based on institution type, campus setting, tuition price, and the size of the student body. 3. Look into the different application portals College-bound seniors applying in the 2016-2017 cycle will have more application portals than ever to choose from, with the major ones being the Common App, the Universal College Application, and the new Coalition Application. Students with exceptionally strong academic records from low-income backgrounds should also consider applying using QuestBridge, a nonprofit that connects high-achieving, low-income students with top-tier colleges and opportunities. While many colleges and universities will accept several, if not all, of the applications mentioned above, a few will only have one option, so be sure to confirm this info with your prospective schools. This year, it will be more important than ever for seniors to plan ahead. After you finalize your list of schools, check out which application portals each school will be using this year and create a checklist that details what each application requires. 4. Take some time for test prep While some of you may have already taken the SAT and/or ACT in your junior year, other students will take these standardized tests in the fall of senior year. If you have already taken the test and know you have a weakness to strengthen, or if you havent taken it yet and have no idea what to expect, take the opportunity to do some studying over the summer. Consider looking into ACT tutoring or SAT tutoring, and dont forget to check out the many free resources available online, such as these free prep books. It is also important to register for the test itself. Be sure to select a date in the fall that will allow you to send your scores to the colleges and universities that you are applying to on time. If you are applying early action or early decision, the absolute latest that you can take the test is in October of your senior year! 5. Explore your interests Summer is a great time to explore new interests and hone existing passions. Maybe youve always wanted to learn a new language or how to code. Or maybe youre an athlete or an artist, and you want to take this opportunity to sharpen your craft. Whether students choose to volunteer, intern, work, travel, or enroll in a summer course, they should aim to learn something new. Whatever it is that youre interested in, take your knowledge of it to the next level and carry it forward with the intention of doing something special with it. Coincidentally, exploring your interests over the summer will likely give you great material to write about in your college essays. Which bring us to our next piece of advice 6. Get started on some application essays While it may feel like application deadlines are light-years away, they will be here before you know itand it will be even more difficult to get started on your essays when you have other ones to write for school! At the very least, compile all of the different prompts that you will have to answer from the various schools you are applying to and start brainstorming potential topics. Regardless of how you decide to spend your summer, you should devote some amount of time to planning and writing. The college application process can be a long one, so its best to get started sooner rather than later. 7. Relax Learning how to manage stress as a teenager is critical. So while it is important to spend some time this summer being productive, it is also important to spend some time resting your mind and recharging for the upcoming school year. Find time to venture outdoors, read for pleasure, and spend time with your family and friends. Striking the perfect balance between being productive, having fun, and resting will not only make for an enjoyable summer, but will also reduce the amount of stress that you will face in the upcoming school year. Word Choice Errors
Word Choice Errors Below is a list of word choice errors the Virtual Writing Tutor can detect and correct. The list is not exhaustive. Instead, it will give you a sense of the kinds of errors that I consider a word choice error and I have been working to correct. Transfer errors Word choice errors are often due to interference from the writers first language and are sometimes called false-cognate errors or translation errors. Other times the errors seem developmental in nature, coming from a lack of knowledge of the different vocabulary choices available in English or collocations required by a particular context. Sometimes, phrases just sound awkward in English because they are words we would never put together. Translation errors Another source of word choice errors can be bilingual dictionaries or automatic translation websites. For example, a root waterway treatment is not a synonym for a root canal treatment. Homophones I have not included typos as a word choice errors if they can be considered contextual spelling errors instead, for example, I was the winner or one million dollar. However, I consider the wrong choice of homophones (for example, there/their) is a type of word choice error. Here is another example: Words pored from his mouth, but the students were up until midnight, pouring over their books. Often-confused words and eggcorns Similar sounding words that are often confused are another source of word choice errors. Adverse/averse, effect/affect are common examples. Eggcorns are another problem. Doggy-dog and duck tape are common examples. 70 Word Choice Errors Copy and paste this list into the grammar checker to see the corrections. Scroll down to learn Thanksgiving idioms and share an infographic.By the time you read this post Halloween will have come and gone (arrived and departed) and thoughts will turn to the next holiday if any before Christmas and New Year. Traditionally in America (and also Canada) they celebrate Thanksgiving Day (thanksgiving always written as one word) near to the end of November. The exact date changes every year because Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November. There appear to be different ideas as to when was the first Thanksgiving day but generally most believe it was officially decided by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.As the words suggest people gathered (came together) to offer thanks for the giving of the harvest. People wish to thank God for the safe collection of the harvest and the rain to help the crops grow.In those days it was celebrated in Church es as a specific religious festivity (celebration or feast day) but now it has developed (like most traditions) in to a commercial holiday.Families traditionally come together for a family dinner which will always include some of the food they celebrated way back when (hundreds of years ago) so turkey, potatoes and pumpkin pie will be high on all menus. Usually, the beginning of the meal starts with a Blessing (words of thanks. Dear Lord we thank you for giving us this fine meal and bringing all the family together on this special day etc, etc). The Thursday is a national holiday with many people also taking the Friday as an extra day so that thanksgiving day is actually in reality a 4 day holiday .In the cities across America parades will be held on or around Thanksgiving day. Today it represents the official opening of the shopping season and traders (shop owners) count the number of weekends between thanksgiving and Christmas to estimate how good their shopping season will be. Depending on the day that Christmas day falls (occurs) there may be one extra weekend or one less. For example, if Christmas Day (25th December) is on a Saturday or Sunday then normally they will have one less shopping weekend. This is really crucial (very important) for the big stores and retail shops. That extra weekend can mean the difference between a successful season or not 6 English Idioms and Phrases related to Thanksgiving Don't keep this to yourself, tell the world: Here are some English idioms and phrases related to Thanksgiving:A BLESSING IN DISGUISE Usually when something unfortunate happens but actually turns out to be to our advantage we say that was a blessing in disguise.ex. Experience is imperative for evident reasons, and it is a good idea to know what that consists of. Basically, study that resume of yours beforehand. You will thank me later. Interviewers want to know about your past experience because they can see whether or not you are capable of performing the job. If anything, it gives them an honest expectation. And if you have zero experience, it is better to once again stay honest, given they are always looking for new talent in whatever their field is. Usually, that is. Practice makes perfect, or something like that, so the more experience the better; let us just say that it would never hurt your situation. Plus, if you have a long list of past jobs, then it shows that you are always willing to learn new things and put your best foot forward. So put your best foot forward, people. Trust me. Think about: possible situations. In most instances, there will be questions discerning plausible circumstances. You know, the good stuff. Things along the lines of robbery, theft, arson, and murder. Okay, maybe not that intense but it is always best to be prepared. Fingers crossed this does not happen, of course. They also take into consideration smaller, but just as important, possible scenarios. These include a short drawer, beyond rude customers (which unfortunately, is more common than you would think), and in-office drama. Chances are, these are more common and most likely will be occurring so prepare to focus. These answers tell a lot of your character and give the interviewer the opportunity to see what your reactions would be if any of these instances realistically took place. Just remember, do the right thing and then you will be hired. Well, we can wish, but it certainly will help out your situation. Think about: your aspirations. This is one of the easier, more upfront questions because it is sort of like asking for your opinion on a certain subject. Well not completely, but it is definitely slightly related. The point is that they want to see your goals with the job and where you see yourself in 10 years ⦠err 10 months. This is not where you habitually say 3.6 kids, no student debt, and living behind a white picket fence. They are looking more toward your job desired and what it is you want to be learning in your time spent there. It is always a good idea to make future plans for obvious reasons. But it is also nice to have these answers planned out. Plus, who does not want to envision their life in a few months, years even? When going on a potential job interview, regardless if it is your first one or not, it is vital to be prepared. And the whole point is that it is solely potential thus far, so your goal is to make it permanent. Right? Right. pexels.com When interviewing, it is always a great idea to be prepared and ready for any question that can be thrown your way. And trust me, there are endless possibilities for questions. Let us just hope that they are more on the nice side with them. Goal is to stay positive, attempt to not perform an anxiety attack in front of them, and hope for the best. Hope can get you far, guys.
